Understanding Medicare & Your Options

Understanding Medicare

Many qualify for Medicare but don’t realize that they have options when it comes to choosing the plan that works best for their situation. LTDT Insurance is here to help you through the process.  Here are a few things to consider:

ORIGINAL MEDICARE & SUPPLEMENTAL POLICIES

Medicare is a major part of every senior’s healthcare, but Medicare wasn’t designed to pay 100% of your healthcare expenses. Deductibles, co-payments, outpatient and physician’s expenses not covered by Medicare are your responsibility when you go onto Medicare and can adversely affect your monthly budget and life savings.  A Medicare Supplement is the answer if you are budget wise and want to pay a set amount each month on your medical needs.

Medicare Advantage Plans

If you are looking for more benefits than the original Medicare plan, then a Medicare Advantage plan may be right for you. Medicare Advantage Plans were designed to replace the need for a Medicare Supplement policy and may have a lower premium or even a $0 premium. In fact, some Medicare Advantage Plans even reduce a portion of your Medicare Part B premium deducted from your social security check.

Your decision should be based on many things like cost, benefits, doctor choice, convenience, and quality. Most of these plans offer more services and have lower out-of-pocket costs than the Original Medicare Plan. Some plans also include a Part D for your prescription drugs at no additional premium. If available in your county, qualifying for a Medicare Advantage Plan is very simple. Most of these plans only require that you are enrolled in Part A and B of Medicare and that you don’t have end-stage renal disease.
